Work type : Small Sculptures
This is one in a series of three sculptures I built around 2004 which will all share a unifying visual language. In contrast to many of the other machines I have built, these three are specifically destined for the art gallery setting. The fingers are made from military surplus 30mm anti-tank practice rounds. This hand utilizes a rotating cam mechanism to produce an “impatient tapping” motion. The second sculpture in this series is the “Voracious Mouth.” The third, tentatively called “Fighteous,” was never built.
